Southerly tells the story of a young and impulsive Ada, who bails from the midst of Melbourne’s 2020 lockdown to a rural NSW coastal property. Bringing with her a guitar, a phone addiction and some quickly escalating alcohol issues.

 

After a night on the piss, Ada awakes in a nearby neighbour’s yard to discover a washed-up musician Josh, and more importantly, his functioning music studio. Seeing the chance to accomplish something amongst a so far disappointing year, Ada decides to make some music with the help of a very reluctant Josh.

 

Working together, Ada & Josh are forced to challenge each other, as well as themselves, ultimately finding the opportunity for the serious change they both need.
